Microgel structure-driven linear and non-linear mechanical properties of self-assembled microgel films

Soft self-supported cohesive films were formed by self-assembly of pH- and thermo-responsive P(MEO2MA-co-OEGMA-co-MAA) microgels without any preparation and/or post-treatments. Linear non-linear mechanical properties those characterized respectively dynamic measurements at low strain uniaxial extensional tests high deformation. A relationship between the microstructure strength microgel-based was successfully established. Compared to crosslinked with Oligo(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (OEGDA), N,N-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) demonstrate a less structure but especially looser shell which enables particles better interpenetrate one another resist higher Novel also designed controlled mixing synthesis side-product, namely water-soluble polymer, WSP, in ratio WSP content till 100 %. Those demonstrated promising due structural characteristics later. The later act as lever tune elastic modulus diminishing their resistance thanks its molar mass revealed Steric Exclusion Chromatography (SEC) measurements.
